It seemed like we chose the rainiest, windiest, stormiest day of the year to visit Stonehenge, and we hadn’t even left Bath yet. We joined a Mad Max bus tour (highly recommended) to take us to the stones and around to some other locations as well. They had just completed a new visitor centre before our arrival.
As we approached the stones, we struggled to keep our heads up without being drowned by the sideways pelting rain in our face. I had decided to wear my light coloured trousers which became immediately see through as I was engulfed in water. We swiftly abandoned our well-intentioned audio guides and increased the speed of our shoe-soaked steps towards the muddy path to the stones.
